Zwei Wochen nach der Premiere ihres brandneuen monumentalen Musikvideos „Another Day In Hell“ legt die deutsche Melodic Death Metal Band ATHORN am 16.09.2016 nach und veröffentlicht ihr Konzeptalbum „Necropolis“ über Dr. Music Records. Mit den elf Songs des Longplayers tauchen die Hannoveraner um Sänger Carsten Frank, Björn Spier und Tobias Liedke an den Gitarren, Bassist Matthias Brandt und Schlagzeuger Philipp Horst in ihre eigene Geschichte rund um ein endzeitliches Wasteland mit Space-Western-Anleihen ab. Um das Chaos zu beschreiben, das nach dem Meteoriten-Einschlag und dem daraus resultierenden Ende der Zivilisation herrscht, vereinen ATHORN verschiedene Musikstile zwischen progressivem Melodic Death und Power Metal in einem einzigen kreativen Schmelztiegel und erschaffen ein geniales Album. Mit ihrem komplett in Eigenregie im Waveland Productions Studio von Frontmann Carsten Frank (ex Human Fortress, ex Gallowglas) produzierten zweiten Werk, sprengen die fünf Musiker die Grenzen eingefahrener Genres und zeigen sowohl instrumentale Versiertheit als auch energiegeladene Professionalität.

Stimmungsvoll bereiten Streicher und ein Nachrichtensprecher im Intro auf die Geschehnisse vor, bis eine Mundharmonika im Stil klassischer Italo-Western einsetzt und karge Landschaften vor dem inneren Auge erscheinen lässt. Der Opener „Another Day In Hell“ wütet mit voller Kraft nach vorne und melancholische Melodien manifestieren das aussichtslose Leben in einer apokalyptischen Welt mit höllischen Blastbeat-Attacken. In „The Dark Breed“, in dem die lebenden Toten auf dem Vormarsch sind, wird dieser Gedanke fortgeführt und hier begegnen einem groovig aggressive Parts, gepaart mit den für ATHORN typischen melodischen Einwürfen. Das stampfende „Cabin On The Hill“ erzählt die Geschichte eines einsamen Kriegers, dessen zerrüttete Gedanken ihn quälen; ist er der Auserwählte, die Welt zu retten und die Menschheit zu erlösen? Die komplette Geschichte lässt sich natürlich im, wiederum von Multitalent Carsten Frank, stimmungsvoll gestalteten Artwork und dem 12-seitigen Booklet nachlesen.

Das bereits anfangs erwähnte Musikvideo zu „Another Day In Hell“, das ebenfalls von Sänger und Regisseur Carsten Frank produziert wurde, vereint die Story des Konzeptalbums und liefert einen epochalen Kurzfilm, der mit spektakulären 3D-Animationen in Szene gesetzt worden. The Melodic Death Metal end time cowboys ATHORN impress with their post-apocalyptic wasteland concept album “Necropolis“, which is available now!

Two weeks after the premiere of their brand new monumental music video “Another Day In Hell”, the German Melodic Death Metal band ATHORN raise again on September 16, 2016 and releases their concept album “Necropolis” through Dr. Music Records. With the longplayer’s eleven songs the band members namely singer Carsten Frank, guitarists Björn Spier and Tobias Liedke, bassist Matthias Brandt and drummer Philipp Horst immerse into their own story about a doomsday-like wasteland with space western references. To describe the chaos, that ensues after a meteorite impact and the hence resulting end of the era of civilization, ATHORN combine every style between progressive Melodic Death and Power Metal into one creative melting pot and create a brilliant album. With their complete autonomously at Waveland Productions Studio of front man Carsten Frank (ex Human Fortress, ex Gallowglas) written and produced second work, the five musicians blow up the borders of established genres and show instrumental instrumental skills as well as their energized professionalism.

Full of atmosphere, string players and a newscaster prepare for the following events, until a harmonica in the style of classic italo western kicks in, creating pictures of a bleak landscape in front of your inner eye. The opener “Another Day In Hell” rushes ahead with full force and melancholic melodies manifest the hopeless life in an apocalyptic world with hellish blast beat attacks. In “The Dark Breed”, the living dead are on the rise, this thought continues and here one encounters groovy aggressive parts combined with ATHORN’s typically melodic interjections. The stomping “Cabin On The Hill” tells the story of a lonely warrior, his shattered thoughts torturing him; is he the chosen one to save the world and free mankind? The complete story is readable, of course, in the atmospheric designed artwork, again by multi talent Carsten Frank, and the 12-pages booklet.
