„Black Denim“ – Knallharter Heavy Rock ‘n‘ Roll mit gnadenloser Strassen-Attitüde

Aufgestaute Wut kanalisiert in gelebter Rock ‘n‘ Roll Attitüde. Genau das symbolisieren AC ANGRY. Der Metal Hammer bezeichnete ihren Sound als «vergleichbar dem Elan früher Wonderfools gepaart mit Wüstenriff-Grooves und einem Hauch später Turbonegro». Ihre Wurzeln haben AC ANGRY ganz klar im klassischen Rock ‘n‘ Metal der 80er wie ihn Motörhead oder Zodiac Mindwarp And The Love Reaction zelebriert haben und es gelingt ihnen auf spannende Weise die Einflüsse der letzten 15 Jahre einfließen zu lassen, als Bands wie Danko Jones oder eben Turbonegro das Zepter übernommen haben. Mit dieser fesselnden Mixtur grenzen sie sich zudem angenehm vom grassierenden 70‘s Vintage Rock Revival ab und gehen ihren eigenen Weg.

Bereits unter dem alten Namen Taletellers machte sich das Quartett mit den Alben „Detonator“ und „Radicalizer“ einen Namen in der weltweiten Metal-Szene. Sie waren 2009 mit Grave Digger und Alestorm auf Europa-Tournee und spielten mit Größen wie Molly Hatchet, Sacred Reich, Uriah Heep oder Astral Doors. Dazu erntete das zweite Album „Radicalizer“ eine Top 40 Platzierung in den US-College-Radio-Charts. Nach einer kurzen Auszeit und der Umbenennung in den besser zum straighten Heavy Rock ‘n‘ Roll passenden neuen Bandnamen AC ANGRY drücken die Musiker um den charismatischen Sänger Alan Costa seit vergangenem Jahr wieder mächtig auf‘s Gaspedal! Mit gefeierten Shows im Vorprogramm der Dänen D-A-D und Ozzy‘s ehemaligen Sidekick Zakk Wylde und seiner Black Label Society überzeugte die Band Fans und Presse vor allem auf der gemeinsamen Tour mit Warrior Soul, die sie im November 2012 durch Deutschland, die Schweiz und den Niederlanden führte. 08.11.2013 wurde endlich AC ANGRYs von Phil Hillen (Powerwolf, Parachutes, The Vision Bleak, Vendetta …) im SU2 Studio produziertes Debüt-Album „Black Denim“ über das deutsche Label Dust On The Tracks Records im Vertrieb von Sony Music veröffentlicht. Kult-lllustrator Jan Meininghaus (U.D.O., Bolt Thrower, Brainstorm …) zeichnete sich für das wie die Faust aufs Auge passende Cover Artwork verantwortlich. Auf insgesamt zehn Songs zeigen AC ANGRY wie ein zeitloses dreckiges Rock ‘n‘ Roll Album zu klingen hat! Einprägsame Titel wie der stampfende Opener „Booze Horse“, die fesselnde Halb-Ballade „It‘s Good To Be Bad“ oder das von fetten Speed Metal mäßigen Riffs getragene „Rock ‘n‘ Roller Roller Rolla!“ sind ein Beleg dafür, dass Sänger und Gitarrist Alan Costa, sein kongenialer Lead-Gitarrist Stefan Kuhn sowie die tighte Rhythmusabteilung bestehend aus Basser Dennis Kirsch und Schlagzeuger Sascha Waack die internationale Szene gehörig aufrollen werden!

Das dies keine leeren Worte sind beweist der erfolgreiche Einstieg von „Black Denim“ auf #1 der Hardrock & Metal Charts sowie #2 der Rock Charts bei Amazon MP3 sowie bei iTunes am Veröffentlichungstag. Die Presse zeigt sich begeistert von den deutschen Heavy-Rockern und feiert AC ANGRYs druckvolles und zugleich arschtretendes Rock ‘n‘ Roll Album in zahlreichen internationalen Reviews und Interviews. Auch live wissen die vier Musiker wie man es richtig krachen lässt und heimsen hier ebenfalls großartige Kritiken ein. Anfang 2013 ging es live richtig los, als AC ANGRY mit Gitarrenvirtuose Michael Schenker (MSG) auf Mini-Tour waren, gefolgt von der dreiwöchigen Europa-Tour als Support der Hard ‘n‘ Heavy-Legende Saxon und einigen Konzerten mit der kanadischen Kult-Metal-Band Anvil sowie Ohrenfeindt im Herbst. Rock Hard (#314): Noch ein paar Worte zum Vorprogramm: Da hat man mit AC ANGRY einen guten Fang gemacht. Mit ihrem gelungenen Mix aus Powerrock, Heavy Metal und Aussie-Rock ’n’ Roll kommt das aufstrebende Quartett ordentlich an. Rock It! #79: „Black Denim”, das offizielle Debüt der Saarbrücker geht voll auf die Zwölf. Die Truppe […] macht auf vorliegendem Silberling einen, nein mehrere Riesenschritt(e) nach vorne. Neben zahlreichen Rotzrockern in bester Rose Tattoo-Manier können die Rocker auch dezent überraschen. […] Und so wimmelt es auf „Black Denim” nur so vor Verherrlichung von Alkohol, geölten Motoren oder auch wahlweise der eigenen Großartigkeit. Solange aber die Songs runtergehen wie ein frisch Gezapftes, um hier beim Terminus zu bleiben, soll uns das recht sein.
Terrorverlag.de: Die Chemie auf der Tour scheint auch gestimmt zu haben. Der Schlagzeuger wurde während des gesamten Gigs von hinten mit Papierfetzen o.ä. beworfen. Und auch Biff höchst selbst ließ es sich nicht nehmen, einmal im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes über die Bühne zu fegen. Dumm nur, dass er vor seinem Abgang eines der Becken abschraubte und von der Bühne entführte… Zum Abschluss gab es dann allerdings nochmal Konfettishooter für die Saarländer und einige Crewmitglieder gröhlten beim Song “AC Angry” lauthals mit. Insgesamt hat die Band mit ihrem 40-minütigen Auftritt durchaus überzeugt, was auch der mittlerweile gut gefüllte Saal durch seinen Applaus bezeugte. Die Jungs sieht man bestimmt bald wieder.
The-Pit.de: Schon beim Opener „Booze Horse“ legen sie die Debüt-Latte verdammt weit nach oben und rotzen rasant und völlig authentisch ihren Rock ’n’ Roll heraus, als ob Muttis Nippel das pure Whiskeyparadies waren, bei der Halbballade „It’s Good To Be Bad“ hauen sie dabei einem noch die Countrysocken um die Ohren – Fluppe in die Schnüss und sich genüsslich den Rhythmus auf die Schenkel klopfen -, während „Motor“ vom Stonerriff der Marke Motorjesus lebt und „Rocker“ eine leicht punkrotzige Attitüde einer Mischung aus Turbo AC’s und D.A.D. ausatmet. „AC ANGRY“ dagegen driftet sogar in hardcorige Gefilde ab und sorgt mit seinem Flair für fette Luftgitarren- und Powerfaustsmasherstimmung. Der Rock ’n’ Roll bekommt dann seine Bestätigung im geil benannten „Rock ‘n‘ Roller Roller Rolla!“ – Turbonegro tanzen auf der Crossplane-Party und werden vom Klavierpart unterstützt. Auch die Uptempo-Nummer „You Got The Thirst – I Got The Booze” glänzt mit passendem Pianopart, ganz besonders sticht hier aber das Mundharmonika-Gitarren-Solo-Duell hervor. Die Saarbrücker AC ANGRY legen mit „Black Denim“ eine heiße Debütscheibe aufs Parkett, die jedem Turbonegro-, D.A.D.-, Motorjesus- und Danko Jones-Jünger sofort gefallen dürfte. […] Für dieses Rock ’n’ Roll-Quartett ist das Ende der Fahnenstange noch lange nicht erreicht, das steht schon jetzt fest.
Time-For-Metal.eu: […] genau um den dunklen Jeansstoff geht es hier. Doch der Stoff ist nicht nur schwarz und sauber, nein, im Gegenteil: Er ist dreckig, weist diverse Löcher auf und steht an den Beinenden vor Schmutz. Genauso lässt sich die Musik von AC ANGRY nämlich beschreiben: Das ‘Grundgewebe‘ ist fest gewoben und von einer hohen Qualität, doch gerade das, was teure Jeans so authentisch macht, sind die Tragespuren und die individuelle Note, die erst nach einiger Zeit so richtig schön rauskommt. […] Die Abmischung und die Abwechslung stimmen, die Songtexte sind witzig und zugleich doch rotzig. Obendrauf kommt die gute Instrumentalarbeit und fertig hat man ein 1A-Rock ‘n’ Roll/Hardrock-Album, das durchaus auch in Endlosschleife gehört werden kann. “Black Denim“ – Hard-hitting Heavy Rock ‘n‘ Roll with reckless street attitude

Pent-up anger channelled into a feisty Rock ‘n’ Roll attitude. This is what AC ANGRY stands for. Metal Hammer Germany described their sound as «comparable to early Wonderfools, coupled with desert riff grooves and a touch of late Turbonegro». Their roots lie clearly in the classic Rock ’n’ Metal of the 80‘s, in groups like Motörhead or Zodiac Mindwarp And The Love Reaction and they succeed in including their influences from the last 15 years in an exciting way, as bands like Danko Jones and Turbonegro took over. With this spellbinding mixture they set themselves apart from the rampant 70‘s Vintage Rock Revival and go their own way.

Under the old name Taletellers the four-piece already made a name for themselves in the world-wide metal scene with the albums ”Detonator“ and ”Radicalizer“. In 2009 they went on a European tour with Grave Digger and Alestorm and they supported such notables as Molly Hatchet, Sacred Reich, Uriah Heep or Astral Doors. Classic Rock UK (#191): With a greasy punk ‘n‘ metal sound that brings the mind the Ramones, Turbonegro and Motörhead, Germany’s AC ANGRY must be doing something right, even when they’re ripping off the greats. Belligrent rockers such as “Booze Horse“, the titel track and self-referecing AC ANGRY are built to batter and bruise, and must sound awesome from the mosh pit. Take a step or two back, though, and the dearth od ideas become apparent. Borrowing from your influences is fine, but tracks such as “You Got The Thirst – I Got The Booze“ and “Rocker“ are surely a step beyond just paying homage to vintage AC/DC. The cheey half-inching aside, AC ANGRY manage to carry off the whole mean and sleazy schtick with aplomb.
