Mit einer hoch spannenden und unterhaltsamen Mischung aus Country, Americana und Bluegrass reflektiert der in Kalifornien lebende Singer-Songwriter DEAN M. COLLINS auf seinem am 16.06.2023 über Dr. Music Records erscheinenden neuen Album „Land Where The Wishes Come True“ sein bewegtes Leben als Farmersohn aus Kentucky, Delta Air Lines-Kapitän und ehemaliger US-Navy-Pilot sowie als Familienvater und Musiker. Unterstützt wird er dabei von renommierten Gastmusikern, die gemeinsam mehr als 60 Grammy-Auszeichnungen erhalten haben. Kenny Aronoffs (u. a. Johnny Cash, John Mellencamp, Lady Gaga) dynamisches Schlagzeugspiel bildet zusammen mit Bassist James LoMenzo (u. a. White Lion, Black Label Society, Megadeth) das Fundament, während Smokin’ Brett Resnick (u. a. Kacey Musgraves, Brookes & Dunn) den Songs mit der Pedal Steel Guitar eigene Akzente verleiht. Gleiches gilt für Justin Moses (u. a. Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Peter Frampton) harmonisches Dobro, Mandolinen- und Banjospiel, sowie Michael Clevelands (u. a. Béla Fleck, Flamekeeper, Alison Krauss) filigranes Spiel der Bluegrass-Fiedel und Jimmy Zavalas (u. a. Eurythmics, Bon Jovi, Tom Petty, Jeff Beck) brillantes Mundharmonikaspiel. Durch die breite Erfahrung und musikalische Klasse dieses Projektes entfaltet das Album einen detailreichen Klangkosmos aus Country, Americana und Bluegrass, der auch poppige Akzente und Referenzen zu Musikgrößen wie R.E.M. und Paul McCartney beinhaltet. Aufgenommen von Dave Jenkins und Ralph Cacciurri (u. a. Glenn Frey, Coldplay, Ludacris, LL Cool J) in den Uncommon Studios LA und Parhelion Studios, wurden einige der 13 Songs mit DEAN M. COLLINS’ langjährigem Freund und musikalischem Weggefährten Thom Russo (u. a. Michael Jackson, Johnny Cash, Macy Gray) in Los Angeles gemischt und produziert, dessen gekonnte Produktion die vielfältigen Inspirationen und Einflüsse zusammenführte. Für das Feintuning zeigt sich Gavin Lurssen im Mastering verantwortlich, der bereits Alben von den Foo Fighters, Robert Plant oder den Game Of Thrones Soundtrack veredelte. Zusammen mit dem Gesang von DEAN M. COLLINS sorgen sie alle für einen klaren und einladenden Sound, der das Album, dessen Artwork aus der digitalen Feder von Richard Touzimsky stammt, mit seinen aussagekräftigen Lyrics zu einem ganz besonderen Country Music Gesamtkunstwerk macht.

Oft führen DEAN M. COLLINS’ Erinnerungen zurück zu seinem Geburtsort Bardstown, Kentucky, wo seine Familie einst ihre Destillerie an James und Joseph Beam verkaufte und wo er als Sohn eines Farmers harte und kräftezehrende Momente, aber auch große Solidarität erlebte. „Land Where The Wishes Come True“ ist Ausdruck der starken Verbindungen und Freundschaften, die der Musiker im Laufe seines abwechslungsreichen Lebens geschlossen hat. Genau diese Bindungen thematisiert er auf seinem Album mit großer Sensibilität und Scharfsinn, sei es die zwischen Liebenden, Eltern und ihren Kindern oder dem Zusammenhalt unter Landarbeitern. Wunderschön und zärtlich werden die Erinnerungen an das Elternhaus in beiden folgenden Singles thematisiert. Im Titelstück werden die Gedanken an die elterliche Farm verarbeitet und „I Don’t Think She Knows“ handelt von all den Herausforderungen in seiner Lebensgeschichte. Die Single „It Could Have Been Me“ hingegen widmet sich einer früheren Beziehung mit einem Whiskey getränkten Hauch von Traurigkeit. Aus all diesen Momenten webt DEAN M. COLLINS ein dichtes, beständiges Geflecht aus Erinnerungen und Eindrücken, an dem er den Hörer teilhaben lässt und das er auch in den Musikvideos bildhaft zeigt. „Coming Home“ erzählt die Geschichte von Anna und Harlan Hubbard in den 1940er Jahren, die ihr Glück in einem eher spartanischen Aussteiger-Dasein an den Ufern des Ohio River finden. Die Wurzeln seiner Heimat sind fest in der musikalischen DNA des Albums verankert, wie auch die klagende Mundharmonika auf „Let It Go“ oder das intime Gitarrenspiel auf dem Titelstück verdeutlichen. Der Hörer erlebt spürbar von der ersten Sekunde an eine Welt aus gleißender Sonne, raschelnden Feldern und Flussufern.

Featuring an exciting and entertaining blend of Country Music, Americana and Bluegrass, California-based singer-songwriter DEAN M. COLLINS reflects on his eventful life as a Kentucky farmer’s son, Delta Air Lines captain and former U.S. Navy pilot, as well as a family man and musician, on his new album “Land Where The Wishes Come True”, to be released on 06/16/2023 via Dr. Music Records. He is supported by renowned guest musicians who altogether have received more than 60 Grammy Awards. Kenny Aronoff’s (i.a. Johnny Cash, John Mellencamp, Lady Gaga) dynamic drumming provides the foundation along with bassist James LoMenzo (i.a. White Lion, Black Label Society, Megadeth), while Smokin’ Brett Resnick (i.a. Kacey Musgraves, Brookes & Dunn) gives the songs his own accents with the pedal steel guitar. The same applies to Justin Moses’ (i.a. Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Peter Frampton) harmonic dobro, mandolin and banjo playing, as well as Michael Cleveland’s (i.a. Béla Fleck, Flamekeeper, Alison Kraus) filigree playing of the bluegrass fiddle and Jimmy Zavala’s (i.a. Eurythmics, Bon Jovi, Tom Petty, Jeff Beck) brilliant harmonica playing. Through this project’s broad experience and musical class, the album unfolds a detailed sound cosmos of Country Music, Americana and Bluegrass, which also features Pop accents and references to musical greats such as R.E.M. and Paul McCartney. Recorded by Dave Jenkins and Ralph Cacciurri (i.a. Glenn Frey, Coldplay, Ludacris) at Uncommon Studios LA and Parhelion Studios, several of the 13 songs were mixed and produced with DEAN M. COLLINS’ longtime friend and musical companion Thom Russo (i.a. Michael Jackson, Johnny Cash, Macy Gray) in Los Angeles, whose skillful production brought together the manifold inspirations and influences. Gavin Lurssen, who has already refined albums by the Foo Fighters, Robert Plant or the Game Of Thrones soundtrack, is responsible for the mastering. Together with DEAN M. COLLINS’ vocals, they all provide a clear and inviting sound that turns the album, digitally penned by Richard Touzimsky, with meaningful lyrics into an extraordinary Country Music masterpiece.

Often, DEAN M. COLLINS’ memories lead back to his birthplace of Bardstown, Kentucky, where his family once sold their distillery to James and Joseph Beam and where, as the son of a farmer, he experienced hard and debilitating moments but also great solidarity. “Land Where The Wishes Come True” expresses the solid connections and friendships the musician has made throughout his varied life. These are precisely the bonds he deals with on his album with great sensitivity and acumen, whether between lovers, parents and their children, or the cohesion among farm workers. Beautifully and tenderly, the memories of the parental home are thematized in both of the following singles. In the title track, thoughts of the parental farm are processed and “I Don’t Think She Knows” is about all the challenges in his life story. On the other hand, the single “It Could Have Been Me” is dedicated to a past relationship with a whiskey-tinged hint of sadness. From all these moments, DEAN M. COLLINS weaves a dense, constant web of memories and impressions in which he lets the listener participate, and he also shows this pictorially in the music videos. “Coming Home” relates the story of Anna and Harlan Hubbard back in the 1940s, who found happiness in a more spartan dropout existence on the banks of the Ohio River. The roots of his homeland are firmly ingrained in the album’s musical DNA, as exemplified by the plaintive harmonica on “Let It Go” or the intimate guitar playing on the title track. The listener tangibly experiences a world of glistening sun, rustling fields and riverbanks from the very first second.
