Nach zehn Jahren musikalischer Schaffenspause kehrt der ehemalige Angel Dust Sänger Dirk Thurisch endlich mit seinem nun gänzlich zur Band gewachsenem Projekt MERCURY TIDE zurück. Das neue Album „Killing Saw“ setzt genau dort an, wo Dirk mit dem großartigen Album „Why?“ aufhörte. Denn nun ist es endlich soweit: Wie ein Phönix aus der Asche kehrt einer der wichtigsten deutschen Melodic Metal Sänger zurück!

Das Kapitel Angel Dust hat Dirk Thurisch hierbei ein für allemal für beendet erklärt, wobei einige Versuche, dieses wiederzubeleben, gescheitert sind und den Wunsch mit MERCURY TIDE durchzustarten, nur verstärkt haben. Im Gegensatz zum Debüt von 2003 legen er und seine neue Mannschaft, zu der Schlagzeuger und Produzent Carsten Rehmann, der Bassist Chris „Dagger“ Pohlmann und Keyboarder Sim Reaper gehören, Wert auf einen traditionelleren Sound, der sich auch live gut umsetzen lässt. Besonders auffällig ist dabei die Entfaltung einer breit gefächerten, stimmigen Gesamtatmosphäre.

Großartige Melodien treffen auf verspielte Gitarrenriffs und eingängige Refrains, die sich sofort im Ohr festsetzen! Der Opener und Titelsong „Killing Saw“ ist eine passende Einführung in die Klangwelten von MERCURY TIDE. Mit „Home“ gibt Dirk Thurisch gleich zu Anfang ein klares und eindeutiges Statement ab. Er ist zurück in der Metal-Szene und freut sich seine alten Fans wieder zu sehen, aber auch neue zu gewinnen! Der Song „Searching“ ist sicher eines der absoluten Highlights des Albums. Treibende Gitarren, feine Hooks und Dirk Thurisch in Bestform. Diese Band weiß das Metalherz zu begeistern! Die folgenden Stücke zeigen deutlich die Steigerung im Songwriting: „World Of Pain“, „Lord Of Memories“ oder „Out Of The Darkness“ erinnern mit ihrer Tragik und Melancholie ein wenig an NWBHM Klassiker. Auch die ausgefeilte Struktur des neuen Langspielers lässt keine Wünsche offen, so stehen die Songs in ihrem Arrangement den Größen des Genres an Frische und Epik in nichts nach.

Das neue MERCURY TIDE Meisterwerk „Killing Saw“ wurde im CKB Recording Studio von Schlagzeuger Carsten Rehmann (Japanische Kampfhörspiele, Kreator, Harasai …) aufgenommen und gemischt. Für das Mastering konnte Eroc (Matt Roehr, Mystic Prophecy, Firewind …) gewonnen werden, was man der Wucht des Sounds deutlich entnehmen kann.

Dirk Thurisch zeigt mit „Killing Saw“, dass er noch lange nicht zum alten Eisen gehört, denn obwohl ein Jahrzehnt ins Land gezogen ist, zeigt sich, wahrer Stahl rostet nicht! Dies wird er auch live in den nächsten Monaten und Jahren wieder unter Beweis stellen. Sein Bühnencomeback feierten er und seine neue Combo bereits letztes Jahr im Vorprogramm von Crimson Glory in Essen. Nach den großartigen Release-Shows im Mai sowie dem gefeierten Konzert als Support für Jon Oliva‘s Pain in Bonn sind weitere Konzerte in Planung und werden auf www.mercurytide.de und natürlich bei Facebook bekanntgegeben.

After a break of ten years, former Angel Dust vocalist Dirk Thurisch finally returns with his band MERCURY TIDE, which once started as a project and now grew to a full-fledged band. The new album “Killing Saw” is a natural progression from Dirk‘s last album “Why?”. Eventually the time has come that one of the most important German Melodic Metal vocalists returns like a Phoenix, rising from the ashes!

Dirk Thurisch has closed the chapter Angel Dust once and for all. Several failed attempts to revive Angel Dust only strengthened Dirk‘s wish to get started with MERCURY TIDE on a grand scale. Contrary to the debut from 2003, Dirk and his band, including drummer and producer Carsten Rehmann, bassist Chris “Dagger” Pohlmann and keyboarder Sim Reaper, place value on a more traditional sound that suites the band‘s stage persona. Great emphasis lies on the creation of a diversified, consistent atmosphere.

Magnificent melodies meet playful guitar riffs and catchy choruses, to which you want to sing along immediately. The opener and title track “Killing Saw” is a suiting introduction to MERCURY TIDE‘s musical landscapes. With “Home”, Dirk gives a clear-cut statement. He is happy to be back in the Metal scene and doesn‘t only look forward to meet up with his old fans, but also to make new ones. The song “Searching” is one of the album‘s highlights: drifty riffs, fine hook lines and Dirk Thurisch at his best! This band truly knows how to conquer every Metalhead‘s heart. The following songs show the musical development of the band‘s unique songwriting skills. With their melancholic aura of tragedy, songs like “World Of Pain”, “Lord Of Memories” or “Out Of The Darkness” are reminiscent of NWBHM classics. The new record‘s sophisticated structure, along with the band‘s ambition and arrangements leave no doubt that MERCURY TIDE can keep up with the best of their genre.

The new masterpiece “Killing Saw” was recorded and mixed at the CKB Recording Studio by drummer and producer Carsten Rehmann (Japanische Kampfhörspiele, Kreator, Harasai …). The one and only Eroc (Matt Roehr, Mystic Prophecy, Firewind …) takes credit for mastering “Killing Saw”, which one can hear by the sound‘s wrecking ball heaviness.

The new record shows that Dirk Thurisch hasn‘t called it a day yet. Even though ten years have passed, he is more than ever before willing to proof his outstanding abilities as a performer in front of live audiences. Last year, he already celebrated his stage comeback with his new combo as a support act for Crimson Glory in Essen, Germany. After the great release shows in May as well as the celebrated concert as support act for Jon Oliva‘s Pain in Bonn, Germany more concerts are planned and will be announced on the band‘s official website www.mercurytide.de and of course on their social media pages, such as facebook.
