„Orgasm“ – Die Verführung zum Post Stoner Rock Höhepunkt

Ein dröhnender Bass und scheppernde Crash-Becken im Zusammenspiel mit dreckigen Gitarrensounds – das sind die unverwechselbaren musikalischen Merkmale von PINKEMICAL SUNSET aus der malerischen, sardischen Hauptstadt Cagliari. Was die Jungs drauf haben, zeigen sie auf ihrem neuen Album „Orgasm“, das am 25.07.2014 über Dr. Music Records erscheint. Diese Band besticht nicht nur durch ihre instrumentale Kompromisslosigkeit, sondern auch durch einen bis ins Mark erschütternden Gesang, der dem Hörer die musikalische Energie der Italiener geradezu ins Gesicht schmettert. Dabei vergessen PINKEMICAL SUNSET aber nicht auch mal ruhige Töne anzuspielen und die Stimmbänder etwas zu schonen. Doch sobald man sich in eine melancholische Blümchenwiesen-Harmonie versetzt fühlt, ertönt die Stimme von Davide Puggioni und man wird durch eine akustische Schelle zurück in die Post Stoner Rock Realität geführt.

PINKEMICAL SUNSET haben sich im Jahre 2012 um den Songwriter und Lead-Sänger Davide Puggioni auf Sardinien zusammengefunden, der zuvor bereits bei mehreren Bands, wie z.B. Arraju, Black Hole of Hulejra, Wild Duck und insbesondere bei Clench, mitgewirkt hat. Mit Clench war Puggioni bereits international unterwegs und u.a. in den USA und Italien auf Tour. Zudem veröffentlichte die Band über das Independent-Label Attack Records das selbstbetitelte Album, das von Mark S. Berry (David Bowie, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Boy George) produziert wurde. Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit Clench hatte Puggioni Blut geleckt, sodass er nach einem neuen Projekt dürstete und schließlich mit Fabio Ortu, Roberto Uda und Riccardo Sunda das Quartett PINKEMICAL SUNSET formte. Die außergewöhnlichen Arrangements der Songs, im Zusammenspiel mit einem modernen, persönlichen Klang, der reich an tiefen Frequenzen ist, und ein raues Live-Set, das von einer fulminanten Lightshow begleitet wird, macht die Musik der Band zu einer neuen Underground-Spielart, die nicht so einfach zu definieren ist. Anfang 2013 begannen PINKEMICAL SUNSET mit den Studio-Sessions für das Album „Orgasm“, das mit der Unterstützung des Produzenten Roberto Corda fertiggestellt wurde. Im selben Atemzug wurde auch das Musikvideo zu dem Albumtitel fertiggestellt und veröffentlicht. Das Video wurde von Drummer Fabio Ortu gedreht und mit dem speziellen Lichtdesign von Gitarrist Roberto Uda in Szene gesetzt. In dem Video lässt die Tänzerin Rachele Montis mit ihrem Können und ihrer Leidenschaft den Tanz mit der Rock Musik zu einer harmonischen Melange verschmelzen.

Von Stoner Rock über Blues Rock bis Hard Rock verstehen es PINKEMICAL SUNSET eine ganze Bandbreite der gepflegten Rock Musik mit ihrem Album zu bedienen. Mit „Orgasm“ schaffen es die Musiker gekonnt zwischen melodisch hypnotischen Gitarrensounds und explosionsartigen Blues Rock-Vocals zu wechseln. Dies vermittelt durchgehend ein Bild von Kraft und Leidenschaft, was sich während des gesamten Albums wiederfinden lässt. Der musikalische Kontrast, der besonders bei den Vocals bemerkbar wird, spiegelt die bittere Süße des sardischen Insellebens wieder, die auch in den Texten beschrieben wird. Sie handeln sowohl von negativen als auch von positiven Aspekten des Lebens. Es werden z.B. Themen wie die Liebe („Thought“) oder die Erlebnisse eines Orgasmus („Orgasm“), aber auch die negativen Seiten einer Beziehung beschrieben („My Woman“). PINKEMICAL SUNSET beweisen mit „Orgasm“ wie bombastisch und energiegeladen Post Stoner Rock von der wunderschönen Mittelmeer-Insel klingen kann, sodass das Verlangen wächst die Jungs von der Südküste auch mal live hören zu können. Bis das soweit ist, können wir uns ganz und gar ihrem fulminanten O(h)rgasmus hingeben.

“Orgasm”– The temptation to the Post Stoner Rock climax

A booming bass and clanking crash cymbals combined with dirty guitar sounds – these are the distinctive musical characteristics of PINKEMICAL SUNSET from the picturesque Sardinian capital Cagliari. With their new album “Orgasm”, which will be released through Dr. Music Records on July 25th, 2014, these guys really make clear how talented they are. This band appears very captivating not only because of their phenomenal usage of their instruments, but also because of their thundering vocals, which shake you to the core and dashes the musical energy straight into your face. At the same time PINKEMICAL SUNSET manage to play soft tunes from time to time and to spare the vocal chords. But once you feel like you entered a new melancholic and harmonic world, the vocals of Davide Puggioni resound and this acoustical blow gets you transferred back into the Post Stoner Rock reality.

PINKEMICAL SUNSET was founded 2012 in Sardinia by songwriter and lead singer Davide Puggioni, who before played in bands like Arraju, Black Hole of Hulejra, Wild Duck and especially Clench. With Clench Puggioni already toured internationally and spent a long time touring through the USA, Italy and other countries. Besides that, the band released the self-titled album with the independent record label Attack Records, produced by Mark S. Berry (Davide Bowie, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Boy George). Puggioni tasted blood during the collaboration with Clench so that he thirsted for a new project. Finally he formed the quartet PINKEMICAL SUNSET along with Fabio Ortu, Roberto Uda and Riccardo Sunda. The remarkable song arrangements combined with a modern and personal sound, rich in low frequencies and a raw live set with an obsessive attention to stage lightning, puts the group at the centre of a new reality in underground music, not easy to define. At the beginning of 2013 PINKEMICAL SUNSET started with the studio sessions of “Orgasm“, which was finished with the support of producer Roberto Corda. At the same time the music video for the album title was completed and released. The video was directed by drummer Fabio Ortu and guitarist Roberto Uda created a special lighting design. Dancer Rachele Montis skillfully blended with her capacity and passion the dance with rock music.

The music of PINKEMICAL SUNSET’s new album covers a whole bunch of Rock genres including Stoner Rock, Blues Rock and Hard Rock. With “Orgasm” the musicians succeed in switching skillfully between melodic, hypnotic guitar sounds and explosive Blues Rock vocals. This transfers a constant impression of strength and passion, which can be found throughout the album. The musical contrast, especially represented by the vocals, reflects the sweet bitterness of life on the Sardinian island, which is described in the lyrics, too. They deal with negative as well as with positive aspects of life. For example they treat topics like love (“Thought”) or adventures lived within an orgasm (“Orgasm”), but also negative experiences with relationships (“My Woman”). With “Orgasm” PINKEMICAL SUNSET demonstrate how bombastic and energetic Post Stoner Rock from the beautiful Mediterranean island can be so that a longing for seeing these guys live increases. Until then we can completely devote ourselves to their fulminant eargasm.
