RELINQUISHED injizieren mit „Addictivities Part 1“ brutalsten Melodic Death Metal

Mit ihrem neuen Album „Addictivities Part 1“ beweisen die österreichischen Metalheads RELINQUISHED, dass gut Ding eben eine Weile braucht. Die Melodic Death Metal Urgesteine aus Tirol zeigen fünf Jahre nach ihrem letzten Album „Onward Anguishes“ und pünktlich zum 15. Bandgeburtstag, dass sie es noch einmal wissen wollen. Mit ihrem neuen Album schlagen sie ein neues Kapitel auf, das musikalisch und inhaltlich nicht an ihre früheren Alben anknüpft, sondern als Prequel zu sehen ist. Gleich bleibt dabei, dass es sich bei „Addictivities Part 1“, das am 22.03.2019 über NRT-Records erscheint, wieder um ein Konzeptalbum mit einer in sich geschlossenen Geschichte handelt, die dank des kunstvollen Artworks von DIS [Art] Design (u.a. Eternal Silence, Eagleheart) auch großartig verpackt wurde. RELINQUISHED erzählen während der neun Songs die Vorgeschichte zu ihrem Debütalbum „Susanna Lies In Ashes“. Thematisch dreht es sich diesmal um den drogensüchtigen Protagonisten Daniel und seinem brutalen Leidensweg. Einordnen lassen sich RELINQUISHED stilistisch in der Nähe von Bands wie alten Amorphis, Opeth, Katatonia oder At The Gates und begeistern mit epischen Extreme Metal Songs wie in dem bereits veröffentlichten Lyric-Video zur ersten Single „Avalanche Of Impressions“.

RELINQUISHED gründeten sich 2004 und veröffentlichten nach einigen Besetzungswechseln ihre erste EP „Rehearshal Doom“. Diesem Debüt ist es zu verdanken, dass der Band der Weg geebnet wurde und sie sich live in Österreich und darüberhinaus etablieren konnten und schließlich auch das Interesse des Labels Noisehead Records, welches die ersten beiden Alben veröffentlichte, weckten. Nach „Susanna Lies In Ashes“ in 2011 und „Onward Anguishes“ in 2013 sowie den beiden Singles „Sinister Dreams“ und dem bereits genannten „Avalanche Of Impressions“ bedeutet „Addictivities Part 1“ für RELINQUISHED einen Neuanfang. Mit dem aktuellem Line-Up, bestehend aus Sänger Sebastian Bramböck, Anton Keuschnick an der Gitarre und Klarinette, Patrick Köselbacher am Bass sowie Gitarrist Simon Dettendorfer, der auch vor dem Einstieg des neuen Schlagzeugers Richard Marx die Drums einspielte, zeigt sich nicht nur eine Weiterentwicklung des Soundgewandes. Das neue Album klingt auch ein wenig anders als die Vorgänger, ohne dabei die Trademarks der Musiker zu vergessen. Mit epischen Songs wie dem Opener „Expectations“, der inhaltlich das Stadium einer fast totgefahrenen Beziehung und unerfüllbarer Erwartungen des Partners behandelt oder „Bundle Of Nerves“ in dem sich der Protagonist nach dem Bruch und der damit zusammenhängenden Entfremdung in Narkotika flüchtet, um mit dem Alleinsein klar zu kommen. Musikalisch klingt der Track dabei wie eine Verschmelzung aus frühen Moonspell und Paradise Lost. Im düster-doomigen Melodic Death Metal Song „Damaged For Good“ beginnt der zunehmende Realitätsverlust und der intensiver werdende mentale Schmerz sowie die einhergehende Belastung, die ihren Tribut fordert. Im brachialen „Syringe“ mit seinem Wechselspiel aus harten und schnellen Passagen, die den täglichen Prozess des Suchtkranken auf dem Weg zur Heilung transportieren als auch das tiefschwarz-metallische „Zero“, das den absoluten Tiefpunkt darstellt, zeigen die Tiroler, dass in der heimischen Szene und insbesondere in ihnen noch viel Potenzial steckt. Nehmt nur das düster majestätische „Into The Black“ und das finster doomige „Void Of My Ashen Soul“, die als zusammenhängender Song zu verstehen sind und den finalen Akt des Albums darstellen. In diesen Tracks wird beschrieben wie Protagonist Daniel in Zugzwang gesetzt wird eine unwiederbringliche Tat zu begehen mit der wiederum die Geschichte des RELINQUISHED Debüts „Susanna Lies In Ashes“ beginnt.  

RELINQUISHED verfeinern auf ihrem dritten Album „Addictivities Part 1“ ihre Qualitäten und erschaffen ein spannendes und kurzweiliges Melodic Death Metal Konzeptalbum, das ihnen sicher viele neue Fans bringen wird, wenn es im März auf die Metal Szene los gelassen wird.

With their new album “Addictivities Part 1” the Austrian metalheads RELINQUISHED prove that good things just take a while. Five years after their last album “Onward Anguishes” and just in time for the 15th band birthday, the Melodic Death Metal doyens from Tyrol show that they want to know it again. With their new album they open a new chapter, which musically and contentwise does not refer to their previous albums, but has to be seen as a prequel. What remains the same is that “Addictivities Part 1”, which will be released on 22.03.2019 through NRT-Records, is again a concept album with a coherent storyline, which has also been brilliantly packaged thanks to the artistic artwork of DIS [Art] Design (i. a. Eternal Silence, Eagleheart). Throughout the nine songs RELINQUISHED tell the prequel to their debut album “Susanna Lies In Ashes”. Basically, the story is about the drug-addicted protagonist Daniel and his brutal suffering. RELINQUISHED can be classified in the same style of bands like old Amorphis, Opeth, Katatonia or At The Gates and thrill with epic Extreme Metal songs like in the already released lyric video for the first single “Avalanche Of Impressions”.

RELINQUISHED were formed in 2004 and released their first EP “Rehearshal Doom” after a few line-up changes. Thanks to this debut, the way has been paved for the band and they were able to establish themselves live in Austria and beyond and finally aroused the interest of the label Noisehead Records, which released the first two albums. After “Susanna Lies In Ashes” in 2011 and “Onward Anguishes” in 2013 as well as the two singles “Sinister Dreams” and the already mentioned “Avalanche Of Impressions”, “Addictivities Part 1” means a new chapter for RELINQUISHED. With the current line-up, consisting of singer Sebastian Bramböck, Anton Keuschnick on guitar and clarinet, Patrick Köselbacher on bass and guitarist Simon Dettendorfer, who also played the drums before the new drummer Richard Marx joined the band, not only a further development of the sound can be seen. The new album also has a slightly different style than the previous ones, without forgetting the trademarks of the musicians. With epic songs like the opener “Expectations”, which deals with the stage of an almost broken relationship and unfulfillable expectations of the partner or “Bundle Of Nerves”, in which the protagonist escapes into drug addiction after the break and the related estrangement in order to deal with being alone. Musically the track sounds like a mixture of early Moonspell and Paradise Lost. In the dark doomed Melodic Death Metal song “Damaged For Good” the increasing loss of reality begins and the intensifying mental pain as well as the accompanying burden takes its toll. In the brute “Syringe” with its interplay of hard and fast parts, which transport the daily process of the addicted on the way to healing, as well as the jet-black metallic “Zero”, which marks the absolute rock bottom, the Tyroleans show that there is still a lot of potential in the local scene and especially in them. Just take the dark majestic “Into The Black” and the gloomy “Void Of My Ashen Soul”, which are to be considered as a coherent song and represent the final act of the album. These tracks describe how the protagonist Daniel is forced to commit an irretrievable crime, with which the story of RELINQUISHED’s debut “Susanna Lies In Ashes” begins.

RELINQUISHED refine their qualities on their third album “Addictivities Part 1” and create an enthralling and entertaining Melodic Death Metal concept album, which will surely bring them many new fans when it is released for the Metal scene at the end of March.
