Seit einigen Monaten fiebert die Schweizer Punk ’n’ Roll Band THE THREE SUM der Veröffentlichung ihrer neuen EP „Kingdom Fall“ mit den außergewöhnlich eingängigen Singles „Coming After You“, „Long Live The King“ und dem Titelsong sowie den dazugehörigen Musikvideos begeistert entgegen. Endlich ist es heute, am 02.12.2022, soweit und „Kingdom Fall“ erscheint über Dr. Music Records. Mit abgefahrenen kleinen Horror-Geschichten und einem dystopischen Mix aus Punkrock und Metal setzen die drei Musiker ihren Streifzug im furchteinflößenden Straßenkreuzer auf dem staubigen Asphalt des internationalen Rock ’n’ Roll Highways fort. Die düstere Grundstimmung mit genau der richtigen Prise Hot Rod Flair wurde von Produzent Mack Schildknecht (China, Second Reign, All To Get Her) im Studio musikalisch perfektioniert. Anschließend verpasste der Grammy-nominierte New Yorker Mastering-Spezialist Mike Kalajian von Rogue Planet Mastering (The Devil Wears Prada, New Found Glory, A Day To Remember) der Platte den letzten Schliff. Inspiriert durch den nicht aufhörenden Ärger in der Welt nehmen Musik und Texte einiger Songs nahezu politische Züge an, etwas, das es so im THE THREE SUM Rock ’n’ Roll Universum noch nicht gegeben hat. Die fünf neuen Songs manifestieren sich auf „Kingdom Fall“ zu einem kraftstrotzenden musikalischen Muscle Car, mit denen das Trio für zusätzliche PS sorgt. THE THREE SUM blicken bereits auf zwölf ereignisreiche Jahre Bandgeschichte zurück, in denen die Musiker Flavio Lamberti (Gesang und Bass), Pascal Artho (Gitarre) und Harry Müller (Schlagzeug) anfangs mit klassischem 90er-Jahre Pop Punk ihre Fans begeisterten. Mit dem von Tarmo Simola glänzend produzierten Debütalbum „With You“ schaffte das Trio aus der Nähe von Zürich 2016 den Sprung in die offiziellen CampusCharts und anschließend mit der zweiten Single „Friends“ in die MTV.de Top100 Videocharts. Ein Jahr zuvor eröffnete die Band das große Schweizer Rock The Ring Festival, bei dem sie u. a. mit Papa Roach, Five Finger Death Punch, Alice Cooper und Billy Idol die Bühnenbretter teilten. Mit ihrer 2019er EP „Nice Night For A Walk“ eröffneten THE THREE SUM neue Horizonte und wechselten vom Gute-Laune-Sound á la Blink-182 ihres Debütalbums zum explosiven Cocktail aus Punk, Heavy Metal sowie Rock ’n’ Roll. Dank der unheilvollen Lyrics und dem genialen Cover-Artwork strahlte die EP den Vibe eines archetypischen B-Horror-Films aus und landete auch gleich in einigen der großen Rock Playlisten. Pandemiebedingt konnten die Punkrocker den Erfolg dieser EP nicht wie geplant ausgiebig auf Tour feiern und so nutzten sie die ungewollte freie Zeit, um „Kingdom Fall“ zu produzieren. Inspiriert von all den Geschehnissen der letzten Jahre, geht es im knallharten Opener „Long Live The King“ um mächtige Menschen in vielen Gefilden, von der Unterhaltung bis zur Politik, die ihre Macht nicht immer zum Wohle der Schwächeren einsetzen, sondern nur, um noch mehr Kontrolle und Einfluss zu gewinnen. Dieser Song brennt sich mit seinem verdammt eingängigen Melodicore Sound tief ins Ohr und ist nicht ohne Grund die zweite Single. In „Fade To Black“ stellen sich die Schweizer die Frage, warum gewisse Menschen und Institutionen sich anmaßen, zu bestimmen, was andere zu glauben und zu denken haben und dies mit allen Mitteln versuchen durchzusetzen. Sie drohen, sie morden, sie füttern die Menschen mit Falschinformationen und wehe dem, der ihre Lügen nicht akzeptiert und Widerstand leistet. Das Unverständnis darüber haben THE THREE SUM in „Fade To Black“ verstaut. Die erste Single „Coming After You“ ist das musikalische Bindeglied zwischen der EP und der Weiterentwicklung ihres Punk ’n’ Roll Sounds auf „Kingdom Fall“. Sänger Flavio Lamberti gefällt es als Horrorfilm-Fan Songs zum Thema zu entwickeln, da sich hier immer schöne Metaphern anbieten. Der Titelsong und gleichzeitig die dritte Single „Kingdom Fall“ wiederum vereint zum Finale die Geschichten der vorherigen Songs. Man stelle sich vor, es gäbe eine Welt, die nicht von Lügen, Machtmissbrauch und einem falschen Messias beherrscht würde. So eine Welt würden sich doch insgeheim alle wünschen. Ein bisschen Anarchie? Vielleicht. Vielleicht aber auch nur der Wunsch, dass endlich etwas Frieden einkehrt. Dafür muss aber das alte Königreich fallen, damit diese Welt neugeboren werden kann.

THE THREE SUM release a sweaty mix of little horror stories and socio-critical anthems with their new Punk Metal EP “Kingdom Fall”

Over the past few months, Swiss Punk ’n’ Roll band THE THREE SUM has been enthusiastically anticipating the release of their new EP “Kingdom Fall” featuring the exceptionally catchy singles “Coming After You”, “Long Live The King” and the title track along with the accompanying music videos. Finally, the time has come today, on 12/02/2022, and “Kingdom Fall” is released via Dr. Music Records. With wacky little horror stories and a dystopian mix of Punk Rock and Metal, the three musicians continue their foray in a scary road cruiser on the dusty asphalt of the international Rock ’n’ Roll highway. The sinister mood with just the right pinch of hot rod flair was musically perfected in the studio by producer Mack Schildknecht (China, Second Reign, All To Get Her). Then Grammy-nominated New York mastering specialist Mike Kalajian of Rogue Planet Mastering (The Devil Wears Prada, New Found Glory, A Day To Remember) put the finishing touches on the record. Inspired by the never-ending trouble in the world, the music and lyrics of some songs take on almost political overtones, something that hasn’t been seen before in THE THREE SUM Rock ’n’ Roll universe. The five new songs manifest themselves on “Kingdom Fall” into a power-packed musical muscle car, with which the trio provides additional speed. THE THREE SUM can already look back on twelve eventful years of band history, in which the musicians Flavio Lamberti (vocals and bass), Pascal Artho (guitar) and Harry Müller (drums) initially thrilled their fans with classic 90s Pop Punk. With their debut album “With You”, brilliantly produced by Tarmo Simola, the trio based near Zurich made it 2016 into the official German college radio charts and then into the MTV.de Top100 video charts with their second single “Friends”. The band opened the great Swiss Rock The Ring Festival a year earlier, sharing the stage with such acts as Papa Roach, Five Finger Death Punch, Alice Cooper and Billy Idol. With their 2019 EP “Nice Night For A Walk”, THE THREE SUM opened new horizons and changed from their debut album’s good mood sound á la Blink-182 to an explosive cocktail of Punk, Heavy Metal and Rock’ n’ Roll. Thanks to the ominous lyrics and ingenious cover artwork, the EP gave off the vibe of an archetypal B-horror movie and immediately landed on some of the major Rock playlists. Due to the pandemic, the Punk Rock musicians could not celebrate the success of this EP extensively on tour as planned and so they used the unwanted free time to produce “Kingdom Fall”. Inspired by all the events of the last years, the hard-hitting opener “Long Live The King” is about mighty people in many realms, from entertainment to politics, not always using their power to benefit the weaker ones but gaining even more control and influence. This song sticks with its damn catchy melodicore sound in the head and is not without reason the second single. In “Fade To Black”, the Swiss ask themselves why certain people and institutions constantly assume the right to determine what others have to believe and think and try to enforce it with all means. They threaten, they murder, they feed people misinformation and woe betide anyone who does not accept their lies and resists. THE THREE SUM have expressed their lack of understanding of this in “Fade To Black”. The first single, “Coming After You”, is the musical link between the EP and the evolution of their Punk ’n’ Roll sound on “Kingdom Fall”. As a horror movie fan, singer Flavio Lamberti likes to write songs on this subject because there are always great metaphors. The title song and, simultaneously, the third single “Kingdom Fall”, in turn, unites the stories of the previous songs for the finale. Imagine if there could be a world not dominated by lies, abuse of power, and a false messiah. That’s the kind of world everyone would secretly like to see. A little bit of anarchy? Maybe. Or maybe just the wish for some peace to finally return. But for that to happen, the old kingdom must fall so that this world can be reborn.
