ONE DAY REMAINS: Ein episches Ultimatum an das Alternative Rock Establishment

ONE DAY REMAINS klingt wie ein Ultimatum, eine letzte Chance oder wie ein Plan. Der Countdown vor dem großen Ereignis. ONE DAY REMAINS ist vor allem aber ein großes Vorhaben. Drei Jungs mit portugiesischen, spanisch-italienischen und Schweizer Wurzeln, die sich blutjung im Jahre 2006 gefunden haben. Pedro Rodrigues, die dunkle, mysteriöse und charismatische Stimme der Band. Ein emotionsgeladener, sensibler Typ, dessen Wachheit sich mit jeder gesungenen Silbe ins Ohr bohrt. Eine Stimme, die nicht kalt lässt, sondern mit ihrer Kraft aufwühlt und fasziniert. Claudio Rodriguez, ambitionierter Gitarrist der Band mit eisernem Glauben an seinen Gott: Die Musik. Das Trio komplettiert seit kurzem Drummer Silvan Stirnimann, der mit der Präzision eines Schweizer Uhrwerks seinen Wurzeln alle Ehre macht. Gemeinsam setzen sie die Segel gen neuen Horizonten und liefern seit fast einem Jahrzehnt kreativen, eigenständigen Alternative Pop-Rock mit hohem Wiedererkennungsfaktor.

Rund um den Globus gibt es bereits zahlreiche Fans, die ungeduldig auf die Veröffentlichung des Albums warten. Die Meisten kennen ONE DAY REMAINS durch ihr Musikvideo zu „High Stakes“ und haben sie durch die zweifache Teilnahme am Schweizer MyCoke Soundcheck Finale in 2011 und 2014 kennengelernt, zu dem auch etliche TV-Auftritte und Radio-Interviews gehörten. Doch schon davor erregten die Vollblut-Musiker ordentlich Aufsehen, als sie 2009 die Herzen der Hörer und somit das Publikumsvoting des T-Mobile Bandcontests gewannen. 2014 überzeugten ONE DAY REMAINS so sehr, dass sie in das Semi-Finale der vom SRF übertragenen Endausscheidung der Schweizer Ausgabe des Eurovision Songcontests kamen.

Im Jahr 2008 traf sich die Band zum ersten Mal mit ihrem Produzenten Matthias Hillebrand-Gonzalez in den phatMedia Studios nahe dem Zürichsee. Auf die Frage, wohin die Jungs mit ihrer Musik genau wollten, hallte es im gleichen Tenor: «Ganz nach oben!». Auf die Bemerkung hin, dass der Weg dorthin sehr lang und steinig wird, blickte ihr Produzent in drei Paar leuchtende Augen, die nur eines wollten: Diesen Weg begehen, so hart er auch sein möge. Blut, Schweiß, Tränen und sechs lange Jahre voller Arbeit später, ist die Stimme gereift und 13 Stücke entstanden, die auch nach dem x-ten Mal anhören packend bleiben und weiter wachsen. Die Produktion haut rein. Ob cineastische Breite, Wall of Sound oder Momente totaler Intimität: „Life Is Living“ erzählt, was diese Jungs beschäftigt, ONE DAY REMAINS sprechen die Sprache Ihrer Emotionen. Sie stimmen die Geschichte einer Generation an, der nichts mehr egal ist. Das Album wird aufgrund einer gelungenen Kombination aus persönlichen Lyrics und mitreißenden Melodien niemals langweilig, unabhängig davon, wie oft man es hört. Der selbstsichere Mix aus Indie und Alternative Rock klingt stark nach The Calling, Lifehouse oder Livingston, bleibt dabei allerdings individuell und unverwechselbar. Schon der erste Song, „Alpha“ sorgt dank Pedros tiefer, gefühlvoller Stimme dafür, dass man sich gänzlich in dem Beat verliert und sich von ihm antreiben lässt. „Break The Broken“ ist eine Hymne für all jene, die von ihrem Mitmenschen schlecht behandelt werden. Es ist ein Lied für die Außenseiter, die wieder aufstehen und sich gegen die breite Masse stellen. Der Song „Dummy“ sollte jeden von uns daran erinnern, das Worte Messerstiche sein können, die als Narben auf der Seele verbleiben. Deutlich härter geht es in dem Lied „Riot“ zu. Es handelt von dem Mut, seinen Mund für die Schwächeren zu öffnen und andere mit dieser Mentalität anzustecken, so dass eine Rebellion entsteht, gegen die Stille der Machtlosigkeit. In „Cloud 9“ werden die Ängste und der Stress unserer modernen Welt thematisiert und auch „Millionaire“ beschäftigt sich mit diesem Thema, denn in der vernetzten, globalisierten Welt spielt auch übertriebener Materialismus eine große Rolle und es fällt einem oft schwer, den Blick auf das Wesentliche zu behalten, wie z.B. die Liebe. Für sie muss man oft steinige Wege gehen, Konflikte lösen und über innere Hürden springen, wie in dem Song „High Stakes“ beschrieben. Aus diesem Grund leben die Musiker passend zum Bandnamen ONE DAY REMAINS nach dem Motto ‘Mache jeden Tag zu dem Besten deines Lebens‘ und verfolgen ihr festes Ziel aus der Schweiz auszubrechen und mit ihrem Debüt-Album „Life Is Living“ die internationale Musikwelt zu erobern.

ONE DAY REMAINS: An epic ultimatum to the Alternative Rock establishment

ONE DAY REMAINS sounds like an ultimatum, a last chance or like a plan. The countdown right before the big event. ONE DAY REMAINS is mainly a big project. Three boys with Portuguese, Spanish-Italian and Swiss origin, who found each other in a very young age in 2006. Pedro Rodrigues, the dark, mysterious and charismatic voice of the band. A very sensitive guy charged with emotions who‘s alertness drills into the ears with every sung syllable. A voice that won‘t leave you cold but will churn you up with its power and fascinates you. Claudio Rodriguez, the ambitioned guitarist of the band with an iron believe in his god: The music. The trio is completed by Silvan Stirnimann since recently, who does his origin credit with the precision of a Swiss clockwork. Together they set sail to new horizons and serve creative, independent Alternative Pop Rock with high recognition factor for nearly a decade now.

There are many fans all around the world waiting eagerly for the release of the album. Most of them know ONE DAY REMAINS because of their music video for “High Stakes“ and learned about them through their two-time participation in the Swiss MyCoke Soundcheck final in 2011 and 2014 as well as many TV appearances and radio interviews that came along with it. But the thoroughbred musicians caused a stir way earlier in 2009 when they won the hearts of the listeners and, with that, the audience award of the T-Mobile band contest. 2014 ONE DAY REMAINS were so convincing that they made it into the semi-final of the swiss edition of the Eurovision Songcontest, which was broadcasted by the SRF.

In 2008 the band met their producer Matthias Hillebrand-Gonzalez for the first time in the phatMedia Studios near the Zürichsee. After asking them where they want to go exactly with their music, their answer was clear: «To the top!». Mentioning that the road up there is very long and rocky, their producer looked into three pair of glowing eyes that only had one wish: Going this way no matter how hard it‘s going to be. Blood, sweat and tears and six years full of work later the voice is matured and 13 songs emerged which stay interesting and thrilling even if you listen to them for the umpteenth time. The production totally digs in. Cinematic width, wall of sound or moments of total intimacy: “Life Is Living“ explains what the guys busy themselves with, ONE DAY REMAINS speak the language of their emotions. They pitch the story of a generation that cares about everything. Because of a great combination of individual lyrics and stirring melodies the album won‘t become boring no matter how often you‘ll listen to it. The confident mix of Indie and Alternative Rock sounds like The Calling, Lifehouse or Livingston but it stays individual and distinctive. In the first song “Alpha“ Pedro‘s dark, soulful voice leads you to loose yourself in the beat and to be driven by it. “Break The Broken“ is a hymn for all those who are mistreated by other human beings. It‘s a song for the outsiders who stand up again and fight against the rank and file. The song “Dummy“ should make all of us remember that words can be stabs with a knife that will last as scars on the soul. The song “Riot“ is distinctively harder. It‘s about being brave, to open your mouth for the weak and to pass this mentality to others so that a rebellion against the silence of powerlessness starts. „Cloud 9“ makes an issue out of the fears and the stress of our modern world as well as the song “Millionaire“ that also deals with this topic, because excessive materialism looms large in our globalized, networked world and it‘s hard to keep track of the important things in life like, for example, love. You have to walk a stony road, resolve conflicts and jump over inner barriers, just as described in the song “High Stakes“. Because of that, the musicians live their life according to the slogan ‘Make every day the most beautiful day in your life‘ which matches their band name ONE DAY REMAINS and they follow their big plan to escape out of Switzerland to conquer the international music world with their debut album “Life Is Living“.
