«It‘s louder and harder than you‘ll ever want it». Mit dieser Ansage machen sich DEAD LUCKY auf, um ihren brachial donnernden Heavy Rock ‘n‘ Roll aus Südafrika nach Europa zu bringen. Und mächtig Zündstoff dafür haben sie auf alle Fälle im Gepäck. Mit ihrem von Brendyn Rossouw und Theo Crous (u.a. Prime Circle, Parlotones, Karen Zoid) in den Heritage Sound sowie Bellville Studios produzierten und von Reuben Cohen (u.a. Rob Zombie, Incubus, Bruno Mars) von Lurssen Mastering in Los Angeles gemasterten Debüt-Album „Sons Of Lazarus“ zeigen sie unmissverständlich, dass der afrikanische Kontinent ein sehr guter Nährboden für überzeugenden, rauen Heavy Rock mit eigener Identität ist. Das löwenstarke Album mit ordentlich Gebrüll wird am 13. März 2015 international als Digipak mit Poster-Booklet über Dr. Music Records veröffentlicht und wird mit ziemlicher Sicherheit hohe Wellen schlagen, die vom Tafelberg in Kapstadt bis hin in die Rock ‘n‘ Roll Hochburgen Europas schwappen werden.

2011 gegründet machten sich Kyle Lucky (Vocals), Jean Labuschagne (Drums), Chris Thunder (Bass) sowie Chris Bornmann und Alex Krause (beide Gitarre) zum Ziel die Fans des dreckig, derben Rock mit ihrer ungezügelten Spielfreude und räudigen Spielart auf eine musikalische Safari zu schicken, bei der man den Rock ‘n‘ Roll Lifestyle voll ausleben kann. In ihrer noch jungen Bandgeschichte haben DEAD LUCKY schon eine beeindruckende Reihe an Auftritten auf den bekanntesten Festivals Südafrikas vorzuweisen. Hier heizten sie u.a. Bring Me The Horizon, Rise Against, Wolfmother, Rival Sons, Trivium oder auch Killswitch Engage auf dem Synergy Live, RAMfest oder dem legendären Oppikoppi ein und begleiteten Billy Talent als Tour-Support. Jetzt richten die rebellischen Kapstädter ihren Blick über den afrikanischen Horizont gen Norden und schicken ihren markanten Sound auf die Reise nach Europa.

Dies tun sie zuerst mit ihrem Album „Sons Of Lazarus“, das zwölf abwechslungsreiche und kraftvolle Songs beinhaltet. Musikalisch setzen die Jungs auf herbe Gitarrensounds mit gradlinigen, einprägsamen Riffs sowie schnelle Drumbeats und die eigenständige Röhre von Frontman Kyle Lucky, die allen Freude bereiten wird, die bei Danzig und Motörhead leuchtende Augen bekommen. Diese authentische Strassen-Rock Attitüde macht DEAD LUCKY und ihre Musik aus. Mit dem Opener und Titeltrack „Sons Of Lazarus“ wird in den Lyrics das Thema Zombies aufgegriffen, bei dem sich Leadsänger Kyle Lucky fragt, ob diese auch gute Absichten haben könnten, sodass er in dem Song die wandelnden Untoten als die ‘guten Jungs‘ erscheinen lässt. Natürlich darf auch das Thema Sex, Drugs and Rock ‘n‘ Roll nicht fehlen, das mit den Songs „King Of The Underworld“ und „Sin City“ behandelt wird. Neben schnellen Stücken verstehen es DEAD LUCKY mit „End Of The Day“ auch mal einen Gang runter zu schalten und leisere Töne anzuschlagen, ohne dabei aufgesetzt behutsam zu erscheinen. Zudem wird mit „Favorite Kinda Woman“ einer Weisheit Lemmy Kilmisters Tribut gezollt, der der festen Überzeugung ist, dass sich Liebesbeziehungen und Rock ‘n‘ Roll so zu einander verhalten wie Öl zu Wasser. Mit Hymnen wie „Live Fast, Die Last“ und „Our Prayer“ wird die pure, ungezügelte Energie des DEAD LUCKY Sounds freigesetzt und der dreckige Heavy Rock gefeiert. Von dieser Energie kann man sich bereits im vorab veröffentlichten Musikvideo zum Song „Prowler“ überzeugen. Hier finden sich alle Trademarks dieser wahnsinnigen, rebellischen Meute vom Kap der Guten Hoffnung wieder. «It‘s louder and harder than you‘ll ever want it». With this statement DEAD LUCKY set off to bring their brute thundering Heavy Rock ‘n‘ Roll from South Africa to Europe. And therefor they have powerful dynamite in their luggage, for sure. With their debut album “Sons Of Lazarus“ produced by Brendyn Rossouw and Theo Crous (Prime Circle, Parlotones, Karen Zoid, …) in the Heritage Sound as well as Bellville Studios and mastered by Reuben Cohen (Rob Zombie, Incubus, Bruno Mars, …) at Lurssen Mastering in Los Angeles they show unapologetic that the African continent is nutritious soil for convincing rough Heavy Rock with its own identity. Now the rebellious guys from Cape Town focus their eyes on the North to look beyond the African horizon and send their striking sound on the journey to Europe.

However, they start off with their album “Sons Of Lazarus“ which contains twelve varied and powerful songs. Musically, the guys count on harsh guitar sounds with straight, catchy riffs, fast drumbeats and the individual roaring voice of front man Kyle Lucky that will make everybody happy who’s eyes are sparkling with joy listening to Danzig and Motörhead. This authentic Street Rock attitude makes DEAD LUCKY who they are and their music special. With the opener and title track “Sons Of Lazarus“ the lyrics deal with the subject of zombies and lead singer Kyle Lucky asks himself if they are able to have good intentions as well so that he makes the walking undead look like they are the ‘good guys‘. Of course, the topic sex, drugs and Rock ‘n‘ Roll shouldn’t be missing, which is talked about in the songs “King Of The Underworld“ and “Sin City“. Besides fast songs DEAD LUCKY also know how to shift down a gear with “End Of The Day” and strike quieter tones without seeming false gently. Furthermore, with “Favorite Kinda Woman” a wisdom of Lemmy Kilmister’s is paid tribute to who is firmly convinced that love affairs and Rock ‘n‘ Roll behave like oil and water. With hymns like “Live Fast, Die Last“ and “Our Prayer“ the pure rampant energy of the DEAD LUCKY sound is set free and the dirty Heavy Rock gets celebrated.
