SPELLBOUND DAZZLE:

A fairytale firework of magical sounds

Italien – bekannt für sein gutes Essen, die schöne Landschaft, die braungebräunten Männer, die jeder Frau unter und über 45 ‘Ciao Bella!’ nachrufen und, natürlich, die Mafia. Musik aus Bella Italia fällt einem erst in zweiter Linie ein und dann meist in Form von, natürlich wohlgemeinten, Schlager-Schnulzen aus dem Pizzaladen, deren Inhalt einem, aufgrund mangelnder Sprachkenntnis, zumeist (den Göttern sei Dank) verborgen bleibt. Doch es gibt auch eine andere Seite der italienischen Musikszene, die sich, unbemerkt von den pizzaliebenden Massen, entwickeln konnte, und aus einem kleinen Lüftchen einen riesigen Sturm machte, der die Metal- und Rock-Szene schlicht umwerfen wird: SPELLBOUND DAZZLE.

Als im Jahre 1993 der Bürgerkrieg in Ex-Jugoslawien tobte, waren die kroatischen Brüder Stekovic gezwungen aus ihrer Heimat zu fliehen. Nach vielen Zwischenstationen fand die Familie in den italienischen Alpen, nahe dem Skigebiet um Cortina d’Ampezzo im malerischen Dorf Quantin, endlich eine feste Heimat. Hier konnten die Brüder endlich unbeschwert ihre Jugend genießen und zum ersten Mal wurde ihnen bewusst, was ihr Lebenstraum ist: Eine Band gründen und die Welt mit ihren magischen Klängen begeistern. Mit Stefano Artus und Dante Bridda bündelten sie 2003 ihre kreativen Ideen, um als SPELLBOUND DAZZLE die italienische Musikzene um eine fesselnde Nuance zu bereichern.

Nach zahlreich gewonnenen Talentwettbewerben und etlichen Auftritten in ganz Norditalien, ging die Band ins Studio, um ihr Demo aufzunehmen und sich bei Plattenfirmen zu bewerben. Im Player von Limited Access Records haute es die A&Rs dermaßen aus den Socken, dass sie SPELLBOUND DAZZLE sofort langfristig unter Vertrag nahm.

Für die Produktion des Albums konnte das Label Limited Access Records die Produzenten-Legende Siggi Bemm (Tiamat, Kreator, Lacuna Coil, …) gewinnen, der von den ersten
Demo-Aufnahmen absolut begeistert war und darauf bestand, die vier jungen Männer zu produzieren. Schon bei ihrem ersten Konzert in Hagen, Anfang 2009, konnten sie Publikum und Experten überzeugen. Allein die Anreise in die kleine Stadt an der Volme zeigte ihren Einsatzwillen und ihre hohe Motivation, da auch der lebensgefährliche Weg über verschneite Alpenpässe in einem klapprigen Jeep sie nicht davon abhalten konnte, dort zu spielen. Im August 2009 weilten die Jungs dann in den Hagener Woodhouse Studios, um die vorliegende Scheibe zu einem Diamanten erster Güte zu schleifen. Für Siggi Bemm ist „Unreal FairyTales“ schlicht und ergreifend ‘das beste Album der letzten 10 Jahre’.

Für das Album gibt es keine passende Schublade, SPELLBOUND DAZZLE vereinen modernen Metal Groove mit klassischem Hard Rock, mixen progressive Strukturen hinzu und garnieren das Ganze mit tanzbaren Folk- und Polka Rhythmen. Schon beim ersten Hören ist man vom vielschichtigen Sound hingerissen.

Herausragend aus der durchgehend großartigen Scheibe sind die Songs „Ruska“ – mit etwas Glück der Alternative Club Hit 2011, der Halbballade „In My Room“ und auch „Foolin‘ Of Each Other“ mit bebendem Groove und komplexem Aufbau!

SPELLBOUND DAZZLE ist mit „Unreal FairyTales“ ein topaktuelles und zeitloses Stück New Rock & Metal Geschichte geglückt.

Italy – known for its Mediterranean food, its beautiful landscape, tanned Italian men who yell ‘Ciao Bella!’ after every woman (no mater what age), and of course the mafia. Music from Italy for most people has to do with the traditional Italian tear jerker, but there is another side of the Italian music scene that has developed from a fresh breeze into a huge storm coming to cause a buzz of excitement in the European Metal and Rock scene: SPELLBOUND DAZZLE

When in 1993 the Yugoslavian civil war raged the Croatian Stekovic brothers were forced to flee from their home. After a long search their family finally found a new home in the Italian Alps near the ski-region Cortina d’Ampezzo in a picturesque village named Quantin. In their new home the brothers enjoyed their lives for the first time and developed a dream. They wanted their own band to inspire the world with their magical sounds. Together with Stefano Artus and Dante Bridda they combined their creativity in 2003 and founded SPELLBOUND DAZZLE with the goal to enrich the Italian music scene.

After having won countless band contests and numerous concerts in north Italy the band decided to record a demo in order to apply for a record deal. When the A&Rs of Limited Access Records listened to the songs they were so overwhelmed that they signed the band immediately.

Limited Access Records were able to win legendary producer Siggi Bemm (Tiamat, Kreator, Lacuna Coil, …) who had already been a fan of the band’s demo songs and enthusiastically insisted on producing the new album. At their first concert in Hagen, Germany SPELLBOUND DAZZLE convinced their audience and experts. Nothing could stop them from playing in Hagen not even the long journey with an old Jeep which led them through dangerous Alpin passes. This is called commitment and motivation!

In August 2009 the band spend the month at the Woodhouse Studios in Hagen to work on the production of a fantastic album. For Siggi Bemm “Unreal FairyTales” is simply ‘the best album of the past 10 years!’.

The album does not fit into any scheme, SPELLBOUND DAZZLE combine modern Metal groove with classic Hard Rock, add progressive elements and garnish the result with Folk and Polka rhythms. The musical mixture promises a thrilling experience at first listening.

Especially the outstanding songs “Ruska” (a potential alternative club hit in 2011!!), and the semi-ballad “In My Room” and also “Foolin’ Of Each Other” with its thundering groove and complex structure represents the amazing result!!

With “Unreal FairyTales” SPELLBOUND DAZZLE have recorded a modern and timeless piece of New Rock and Metal history!
